OUR REALITY Those of us with textured natural hair know about the challenges, the dreaded wash-day, the night-time routine, discovering the right regimen and painfully dry hair. We feel each other’s pain and know about the struggle. We’ve chemically processed our hair for too many years, thinking there were no other options. I realized one day that maybe, just maybe I could do something different, but was I big, bad, bold enough to jump ship?
MAYBE I CAN MAKE A CHANGE!! I made the decision to go natural but it was a tentative move, made over several months. I knew that cutting all my hair at once was not for me: “Noooooo, I would end up practically bald”.
I transitioned using protective styling (braids); each time I re-braided I would trim my ends. I saw progress, my hair became thicker, but I had one major problem: my hair was like the Sahara—it was the driest thing ever.
IT’S A MIRACLE Whilst away on a trip I didn’t have the hair products I needed for daily maintenance. I purchased organic ingredients, then using measured quantities of organic olive oil, coconut oil, aloe vera and essential oils mixed the ingredients together, and applied to my dry hair. Oh my goodness! It softened and brought out my curl pattern, I couldn’t believe it, it was a miracle! This was the moment Luxju hair care products was cultivated.
